38th Annual Meeting Report

November 8, 1997

Dear Members of the MCCTA,

The 38th Annual Meeting of the MCCTA was held on November 8, 1997 in Great Falls, Montana at 1:20 PM. in the Peking Garden restaurant.

Attendance: Officer-Directors; Tony Cerovski-P, Simon Nickol-VP, & Janet Cerovski, S-T,

Directors; Doug Langel & George Nickol,

Members; Dale Schuler, Lyle Wichmann, Stan Howe and Scott Stubbert.

Old Business:

The Minutes from 37th Annual meeting and the four driver-timer meetings were read and approved.  The Treasurer’s Report for Oct 1996-Oct 1997 was read and approved.  As of 11-8-97, we have a balance of $743.53 in the checking account.

Doug Langel gave a report on the Stoltz safety hub.  The members present voted and it will not be a new exception to the rules.  No other changes to the rules were motioned.

The President advised the members that the price ($70.00 each) of purchasing Montana Silver Smith belt buckles for the 1997 race was too much.  Therefor we did not have the usual prizes to hand out at the ‘97 race.  Anacortes Brass Works makes belt buckles also, but a minimum order of 50 is required at $12.50 each.  Ideas for prizes and gifts are most welcome.

We have 49 (of 100) MCCTA Brass key fobs for sale at $3.00 each:  We have been giving one to each new member and selling what we can to the membership and the public.

We have about 15 MCCTA Hats for Sale at $10.00.  Six hats sold at the meeting.

New Business:

Reading the correspondence received was attempted.  Stan Howe asked to review the correspondence.  Pertinent letters were received from, MTFCA - Jay Klehfoth, Bob & Norma Johnson, John French, Ray and Darlene Sanders, Mary Lundin, Charles Versteeg, Richard Carnegie, Keith and Marie Painter, Bob Thompson, Jim Miller, Bud and Viv Peters, Jeannie Tanney & Bob Locke, Jim Halseth, Sally Aschim, Jack Middleton-MTFCA, Steve Coniff, David E. Williams-MTFCA newsletter, Marti Hays - MTFCA newsletter, Dave Dunlavy-MTFCA, Dale Schuler and Dave Huson.

We send our Sympathy to Norma Johnson, (Bob) 810 West I St., Ontario CA 91762,

and to Lonette Macy (Ralph) at PO Box 257, Sioux Falls SD 57101.

The MCCTA voted to pick the 3 MTFCA candidates who sent the Association  letters asking for our vote.  Those are; Jack Middelton, David E. Williams and Dave Dunlavy.

If anyone has a copy of the 1970 race results, I would like a copy of it to place in our archives.  I will be searching for other missing race results, so drop me a line on what you have.  By then I’ll know more of what I need.

Who remembers the name of the company that has the MCCTA silk-screen?  It was used on the Associations timer’s coats and possibly on winner’s jackets.  (________  ,Great Falls?). Thanks.

We elected two new directors as Charley Worthington’s term expired and Jim Halseth retired and went down-under (Australia).  Welcome aboard Scott Stubbert and Stan Howe to 3 year terms.

The current directors, officers and terms are:

1.   Terry Peters  1998

2.    Doug Langel            1999

3.    George Nickol          1999

4.    Ray Sanders            1999

5.    Janet Cerovski, S/T    2000

6.    Simon Nickol,    VP    2000

7.    Tony Cerovski, P       2000

8.    Scott Stubbert         2001

9.    Stan Howe              2001

We discussed 8 race routes.  They were, Lewistown, Havre, Forsyth, Jordan, Ennis, Twin Bridges, Livingston, and Missoula.  Lewistown and Livingston were nominated.  Lewistown received 5 votes and Livingston received 4 votes.

The Lewistown event will be June 15, 16, 17 & 18, 1998!

The President expressed his thanks to those who help the Association to run smoothly.  Special recognition was given to Janet Cerovski and Bonnie Nickol for heading up the timing teams, to George Nickol for checking the racer times entered into the computer, Simon for visiting with the new members and public, and to Dale for setting up the Fort Benton end of the 97 race and the annual meeting.

The Publicity Director for ‘98 Race at this time will be the President, and I will also do the motel, meeting room and meal arrangements.  All members are encouraged to pitch in and do what they can to help out.  Please remember this, whatever you put in to something....is what you’ll get out of it.   So jump in (again) and do it.  Thanks for your time.

Try to get someone to join this Model T race.  We need more participants!

Sincerelyyours,

Tony Cerovski, Pres.
