December 4, 1994 Annual Meeting Report and Preliminary News
Hello Members and Friends,
The Annual Meeting was held November 5, 1994 in the basement of the Wheat Foundation Building in Great Falls. Club officers present were; president Terry Peters, vice-president Jim Halseth, secretary-treasurer Julene Peters, other directors, George Nickol, Tony Cerovski, and members Dale Schuler, Chuck Worthington, Sandy Pindar and Doug Langel.
The minutes from the last annual meeting were read and approved.
New business began with a short discussion on the go-no-go carburetor gauge. We came to the conclusion that the rules adopted in 1988 will stand unchanged. Carburetors must be original and must not have modified throats. Anyone may ask for a copy of the rules for their own reading.
During the '94 race an unfriendly discussion took place between one of the drivers a couple of the timers. We must avoid this sort of thing. The driver wanted to begin racing again before all racers assembled at a flag-on station. The timer did the right thing by asking the driver to wait. The driver did the wrong thing by pushing the issue.
The officers, directors, and timers want to keep the drivers in a nifty and friendly group at the flag station so that the timers at both ends of the run will not have to spend much more than half an hour at any given flag-on or flag-off station. We simply do not have the resources to do things differently. So, any questions about timing or other topics will be brought up to the directors only. When in doubt, do the friendliest thing.
Once again we give our club's thanks and appreciation to Marge Schuler's mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt, for the great job done on the tour day picnic. We would not have much of an
event without the timers. Thank you Sally, Tom, Lyle, Bob Johnson, Max Danskin, Bonnie, Veronica, Marge, Janet and their husbands and wives for letting them help out. Thank you all very much.
New business began with the nominations of new officers. Tony Cerovski of Helena is president, Chuck Worthington of Livingston is vice-president and Janet Cerovski is secretary-treasurer.
Directors other than the new officers now consist of Terry and Julene Peters, George Nickol, Simon Nickol, Dale Schuler, Jim Halseth, and Sandy Pindar.
Fairmont Hot Springs had the majority vote, and was chosen as the base station for the 1995 endurance run. This resort-hotel is a classic Montana style recreation area offering swimming, golf, horseback riding and possibly Ford Model T rides. (Girl watching is restricted to Simon, Sam and other unmarried types.)
The main event is set for Monday, June 19 thru Thursday, June 22, 1995. Discount room rates at Fairmont run $75.00 a night for single or double occupancy, including children. Twenty rooms are set aside for the club members.
Check for a week-long rate, say Monday thru Sunday morning.
Occupied motor home parking can be obtained nearby at the Fairmont RV Park (1©406©797©3505). Unoccupied motor home and trailer parking is available in Fairmont's west side parking Lot where the T's will be inspected and stored. Bring a plastic jug to for your
used motor oil so that it can be hauled back home.
Tentative Agenda for Monday, June 19, 1995.
Registration for car drivers and members will be in the main lobby area in a small nook area measuring about 12 feet by 16 feet. All drivers must register and bring their annual membership dues current ($10.00) and timed participants must pay a fee ($55.00)
prior to inspection. Non-timed or cars disqualified during inspection may participate in another class by paying a lesser fee ($35.00). Baseball type caps for the event may be available.
Model T inspection, safety check and wire sealing will be in the large parking lot behind and west of the main hotel area. Car trailers and tow-vehicles can be parked there also. Inspection of all participant cars will begin at 1:00 pm and is expected to end by 5:00 pm the same day.
Inspection of the cars will move along quickly if all drivers make sure that their horn, headlights, tail light and brake light are in tip top working condition. Drivers must also provide proof of
liability insurance. The drivers must make sure that their cars do not contain any illegal parts or modifications. (Refer to your rules.) Disqualifying cars is not a happy experience for anyone.
Please arrive and stay legal.
